Cambridge Market Square
About
Cambridge Market has occupied the same central square since the Middle Ages, and it's still going strong six days a week. The daily general market has food stalls, flowers, vintage clothing, second-hand books, and household goods. On Sundays, it becomes a food market with local producers and street food vendors. The square sits right in the historic centre, surrounded by Great St Mary's Church, the Senate House, and the shops of Market Hill and Sidney Street. It's a natural meeting point and the social hub of the city. The food stalls are excellent — Jack's Gelato (queues out the door for good reason), Steak and Honour burgers, and rotating international street food vendors. The Arts and Crafts Market on some Saturdays brings together local makers and artists. The weekly market isn't particularly large, but it's properly local — this is where Cambridge students, academics, and residents converge. Grab a coffee, browse the stalls, and enjoy the view of King's College Chapel from the square.
