About
The BFI London Film Festival is the UK's leading film festival — two weeks of premieres, previews, and special screenings of the best international and British cinema. The festival programme typically includes over 200 films across multiple venues, from big-screen premieres at the Royal Festival Hall to intimate screenings at the BFI Southbank and cinemas across London. The festival is less industry-focused than Cannes or Venice and more genuinely accessible to the public. Red carpet premieres, director Q&As, and special events run alongside the regular screenings. The programme spans world cinema, documentaries, short films, animation, and restored classics. Many films screening here go on to Awards season prominence. Tickets go on sale in advance and the most anticipated screenings sell out quickly. BFI Members get priority booking. The atmosphere is wonderful — seeing a film with a festival audience that's chosen to be there creates an energy that regular screenings can't match. Some screenings are followed by Q&As with directors and cast. A brilliant fortnight for anyone who loves cinema.
