About

Britannia Vaults, Albert Dock, Liverpool L3 4AD

The Beatles Story is the world's largest permanent exhibition devoted to the Fab Four, occupying the vaulted brick cellars of the Albert Dock. The exhibition traces the Beatles' journey from childhood in Liverpool through the Cavern Club years, Beatlemania, the creative peak of the late 1960s, and beyond — using recreated environments, original memorabilia, and immersive audiovisual displays. The recreated Cavern Club (built to the exact dimensions of the original), the Abbey Road studio recreation, and the white room representing John Lennon's Imagine period are highlights. George Martin's reimagined studio is a recent addition and gives fascinating insight into the production genius behind the records. The audio guide features commentary from people who were actually there. For Beatles fans it's essential — the depth and authenticity of the collection is impressive. For casual visitors, it's a well-told story about four lads from Liverpool who changed popular culture. Allow 90 minutes to two hours. Book timed tickets online, especially in summer and school holidays. The attached shop is extensive (and expensive, but the memorabilia quality is high).
