Hove Lagoon
About
Hove Lagoon is a shallow saltwater lagoon on the seafront in Hove — and it's become one of the best spots on the south coast for water sports. The lagoon hosts a wakeboarding and waterskiing cable, paddleboard hire, and sailing sessions, all in sheltered water that's much calmer than the open sea. For families, the children's paddling pool, playground, and miniature railway make it a full day out. The wakeboarding cable is the main draw for adrenaline seekers — you don't need a boat, just clip in and the cable pulls you around the lagoon. Beginners can take lessons, and regulars use it year-round. Paddleboarding on the lagoon is a great option for anyone who finds open-sea paddleboarding intimidating. The lagoon café serves decent food and has outdoor seating overlooking the water. The seafront promenade connects to Brighton in one direction and Shoreham in the other. On a sunny day, the combination of watersports, a seafront walk, and a café lunch makes for a brilliant seaside day out. It's less hectic than central Brighton, with more of a local, neighbourhood feel.
