The Riverside Museum
About
Zaha Hadid's zinc-clad museum on the Clyde is home to Glasgow's extraordinary transport collection — over 3,000 objects covering everything from skateboards to locomotives, horse-drawn carriages to prams, and some of the finest vintage cars in Scotland. The building itself is spectacular, with a zigzag roofline inspired by the waves of the Clyde. The recreated Glasgow streets are a highlight — a cobbled lane of shops, a pub, a photographer's studio, and a subway station, all authentically fitted out from different periods. Kids go wild for the interactive exhibits and the sheer variety of vehicles. The tall ship Glenlee is moored outside and included in the free entry. It's a bit out of the centre, but easily reached by bus or a pleasant walk along the Clyde from the city centre. The café has views over the river. If you've got kids, you'll struggle to get them out in under two hours. Completely free, which is remarkable given the quality.
