About
Meatopia is a festival of fire, smoke, and live-fire cooking — a celebration of meat cooked outdoors over flames by some of the UK's best chefs. The festival brings together pitmasters, grill experts, and restaurant chefs to cook over wood and charcoal in open kitchens, with live music and craft beer alongside. The food is the main event — you buy tokens and exchange them for dishes from the various cooking stations. The quality is exceptionally high — these aren't burger vans, they're proper chefs doing ambitious dishes over fire. Past participants include the teams from Brat, Smoking Goat, Temper, and BBQ specialists from across the UK and US. Vegetarian options are available but this is primarily a meat festival. The atmosphere is sociable and smoky — the combination of open fires, craft beer, and live music creates a properly good time. It typically takes place in London over a September weekend. Sessions are ticketed (daytime and evening), and popular sessions sell out. Come hungry and pace yourself — there's a lot to eat.
