About
Borough Market at Christmas is London food culture at its most festive and intense. The historic market under the railway arches near London Bridge transforms for December with seasonal produce, mulled wine, mince pies, and an atmosphere that's equal parts magical and claustrophobic. The regular traders — fishmongers, cheesemongers, bakers — are joined by seasonal stalls and the whole market sparkles. The permanent traders pull out their best for Christmas — whole turkeys and geese, festive cheeses, Christmas puddings, and speciality foods from around the world. Brindisa does seasonal Spanish hams, Neal's Yard Dairy stacks wheels of Stilton, and the mulled wine and cider stalls keep the cold at bay. December weekends are extremely busy — go on a weekday morning if you can. The market runs normal opening hours but the Christmas atmosphere typically builds from late November. Combine with a walk along the South Bank for the full festive London experience. Borough Market is a year-round treasure, but at Christmas it reaches another level entirely.
