About

Primrose Hill Road, London NW3 3NA

Primrose Hill is a 78-acre park north of Regent's Park that offers what many consider the single best panoramic view of London. From the summit (just 78 metres above sea level, but on the London skyline that's plenty), you get an unobstructed view south across the entire city — the BT Tower, The Shard, the Gherkin, the London Eye, St Paul's, and the towers of Canary Wharf all visible in a single sweep. A toposcope at the summit identifies each landmark. The hill itself is a beautiful, simple space — just grass, sky, and that view. It's where Londoners come to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve and Bonfire Night, to picnic on summer evenings, to walk dogs, to read, or just to sit. The surrounding village of Primrose Hill has excellent independent shops, cafés, and pubs — the Lansdowne and the Engineer are both worth a stop. Sunrise and sunset are the magic hours. In summer, the hill fills with picnickers from about 6pm as the sun dips behind the skyline — bring wine, a blanket, and someone you like spending time with. In winter, wrap up warm and watch the city lights appear. It's simple, it's free, and it's utterly romantic.
