Techniquest
About
Techniquest is Wales's national science discovery centre — an interactive science museum in Cardiff Bay that has been inspiring curiosity in children (and adults) since 1986. The permanent exhibits are hands-on: you can launch rockets, build circuits, experiment with light and sound, explore the human body, and generally press, pull, and play your way through scientific principles. The planetarium shows are a highlight — immersive dome projections that take you on tours of the solar system, through the history of the universe, and into the world of deep space. The Science Theatre hosts live demonstrations that are entertaining and genuinely educational. Special events and workshops run regularly during school holidays. It's right on the waterfront in Cardiff Bay, making it easy to combine with a visit to the Millennium Centre, the Senedd, or a walk along the Barrage. It's smaller than some UK science centres, but the quality of the exhibits and the enthusiasm of the staff make up for scale. An excellent rainy-day option for families visiting Cardiff.
