About

Wapping Wharf, Gaol Ferry Steps, Bristol BS1 6WP

Wapping Wharf is Bristol's dockside dining and shopping quarter — a modern development on the old harbour that's become one of the city's most popular eating and drinking destinations. The centrepiece is a row of repurposed shipping containers housing independent food and drink businesses: craft beer, sourdough pizza, oysters, ramen, speciality coffee, and more. The location is beautiful — right on the floating harbour with views across to the SS Great Britain and the cranes of the old dockyard. On sunny days, the outdoor seating areas fill with people enjoying the waterside atmosphere. The independent shops (a bookshop, a wine merchant, design stores) add to the appeal. It's a curated development — the businesses are selected rather than highest-bidder, which keeps the quality high and the character genuine. Bristol is rightly proud of its independent food scene, and Wapping Wharf is one of the best showcases of it. Easy to combine with a visit to the SS Great Britain or a walk along the harbour to the Arnolfini.
