Bristol Lido
About
Bristol Lido is a beautifully restored Victorian swimming pool in Clifton that has been transformed into one of the most unique wellness experiences in the city. The original 1850 pool — a 24-metre open-air pool heated to a warm 24°C — is surrounded by elegant poolside dining, a spa, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you've escaped to a Mediterranean resort. The pool is open year-round and heated, so winter swimming here is particularly special — steam rising from the warm water on a cold morning is magical. The Lido Restaurant, overlooking the pool, serves excellent seasonal British food and has become a dining destination in its own right. The spa offers a range of treatments. Swimming sessions should be booked in advance — particularly at weekends and in summer when it's very popular. The pool is shallow enough for less confident swimmers but long enough for proper laps. Poolside seating is available for sunbathing. It's one of those places that makes you wonder why every city doesn't have one.
