About

Brighton Marina, Brighton BN2 5UF

Brighton Marina is the largest marina in the UK — a huge harbour complex on the eastern edge of the city that houses hundreds of boats alongside restaurants, bars, a cinema, a bowling alley, and a large retail area. The marina sits in a man-made harbour cut into the chalk cliffs, and the sheer scale of it is impressive. The best bits of the marina are its waterfront restaurants and the water itself — boat trips along the coast, fishing trips, and diving charters all operate from here. The walk along the breakwater gives excellent views back towards Brighton and out into the Channel. Several good restaurants line the waterfront, and on a sunny day the outdoor seating areas have a genuine Mediterranean feel. The marina is a 30-minute walk from the Palace Pier along the seafront (passing the Volk's Railway and the nudist beach), or reachable by bus. The cliff walk from the marina towards Rottingdean is one of the most dramatic coastal walks near Brighton — the Undercliff Path cuts through chalk cliffs with the sea crashing below. Combine the marina with this walk for a proper coastal adventure.
